Musings On The North West Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGBH I BBHHJJ

Domestic cattle quiet will graze where now the Buffalos roamA
and in spots now covered o'er with Indian WigwamsB
where white men never trod cities will occupy theirC
sites with busy trade and millions throng from EasternD
lands to take possession of the great North West thenE
Winnipeg perchance may be the capital of the DominF
ion In the days fortold when this indeed shall be theG
'Greater Britain ' with Ontario's towns for work shopsB
for this vast Prairie landH
-
' And poets will arise and high their lays will soarI
Worthy of the muse of a Burns or a Moore '-
A Shakespeare and a Milton the great and the wiseB
Will sing of the glories of our Northern skiesB
Of its lakes and rivers and its mountains grandH
Of its fertile plains and great prairie landH
A fit theme for song this empire giganticJ
Whose arms stretch from Pacific to AtlanticJ
