Lost Son Found Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH FFEE IIFF JJKK

An English ship when homeward boundA
Near to its port was shipwrecked foundA
For it had struck a sunken rockB
And was slowly sinking from the shockB
-
In port they quick did man life boatC
Which o'er tempestuous sea did floatC
They rescued all the crew save oneD
And were content with what they doneD
-
But they had not their captain HarryE
Who on the shore was forced to tarryE
And knew not of the disasterF
So crew had worked without a masterF
-
But when he heard of the shipwreckG
And that a man was left on deckG
He quickly hurried the boat's crewH
For to again attempt his rescueH
-
But earnestly his old motherF
Reminded him of his lost brotherF
Perhaps drowned in foreign seaE
She cried son stay and comfort meE
-
But wreck they reach and rescue manI
And thrill of joy o'er city ranI
When it was found 'twas Harry's brotherF
Had returned to comfort motherF
-
Thus providence rewards the braveJ
Who strive their fellow men to saveJ
The mother's griefs it did assuageK
And happy now is her old ageK
