Lineson Thorold Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CCAADDEFGG HH AAII AAJJ AAKK IILL GM

McCready the great Irish Tragedian said the view from ThoroldA
was the finest in AmericaB
-
Thorold is famous for its millsC
And the grand view from off its hillsC
A view so charming and extendedA
Natures beauties sweetly blendedA
Poetic thoughts it doth awakeD
To view Ontario's broad LakeD
And husbandmen have their reward inE
Fruits of this provincial gardenF
For from the hill you see belowG
Gardens where choice fruits do growG
-
The landscape all within your reachH
Doth both produce the grape and peachH
-
McCready said in the New WorldA
The finest view was from ThoroldA
You see St Catharine's charming townI
And steamers sailing up and downI
-
And you can see on a clear dayA
All along Toronto BayA
And you clearly see the hazeJ
Where Niagara doth amazeJ
-
And glance where Grimsby's gardens yieldA
Or view Beamsvill's fruitful fieldA
Then this thought yon can advanceK
This is Canada's sunny FranceK
-
You see Niagara's ancient townI
Though it has lost its old renownI
And you have a splendid viewL
Of boats on old canal and newL
-
Niagara once the capital and business centre of Upper Canada and alsoG
an important fortress It is located at the mouth of the Niagara riverM
