Life In The Woods Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCBBDDEEFFGGHH

Lines on the struggles of the early settlersA
-
Canada hath wealthy yeomanB
Whose fathers overcame the foemanB
The enemy they boldly slewC
Was mighty forest they did hewC
And where they burned heaps of slainB
Their sons now reap the golden grainB
But in the region of North WestD
With prairie farms they are blestD
Though this to them it may seem goodE
Yet many blessings come from woodE
It shelters you from fierce stormF
And in the winter keeps you warmF
For one who hath his forest treesG
He builds his house and barn with easeG
And how quick he gets from thenceH
Timber for bridge and for his fenceH
