In mid the river far from beach | E |

Heroic deed it should be sung | F |
Though his flesh in ribbons hung | F |
He saw a man who could not swim | G |
And he resolved to rescue him | G |

And success his efforts crowned | H |
He saved the man from being drowned | H |
For him upon his back he bore | I |
And boldly swam with him to shore | I |

Heroic deed we now enroll | J |

For this great truth we wish to teach | E |
