Ladies Aid Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEE FGHH BBIJ

After chatting with each friendA
We our way to the table wendA
On it we all do make a raidB
And this we call a Ladies' AidB
-
'Tis pleasant way of taking teaC
Improvement on the old soireeD
On such a time as this we findE
Food for body and for mindE
-
Gladly all obey the callF
To attend this pleasant socialG
And we hope none will lamentH
The time and money they have spentH
-
The matron and the comely maidB
And youths attend the Ladies' AidB
But now we close our short refrainI
And hope to meet you all againJ
