So daring were those mauraders | A |
And skilful too were invaders | A |

When Highlanders o'er plain would sweep | C |
And drive to hills his steers and sheep | C |

For highlandmen were taught in song | D |
The lowlands to them did belong | D |
Each highland chief he ruled like king | E |
And Bards they did his praises sing | E |

In war the chief he led the van | F |
Marching to battle with his clan | F |
And when the foe attacked their chief | G |
The clansmen rushed to his relief | G |

When they King William's forces mass | A |
In Killicrankie's famous pass | A |
The highlanders with joy and glee | H |
Rushed on them led by bold Dundee | H |

Lowland troops they would not tarry | H |
But they strove to ford the Garry | H |
Soon many on the field lay dead | I |
In river floated many a head | I |

For clansmen with the good broad sword | J |
Of battlefield they soon were Lord | J |
And historians will rank the | K |
Chief highland victory of Killicrankie | E |

Again there sweeps the highland clans | A |
Victorious at Preston Pans | A |
Under Prince Charlie full of hope | L |
They drove the troops were led by Cope | L |

But from Culloden Charlie flies | A |
While Highland blood the heather dyes | A |
For months he wandered 'mong the hills | A |
Young Flora strove to soothe his ills | A |

While he was hunted by blood hounds | A |
For sake of thirty thousand pounds | A |
But Highlanders the gold despise | A |
And honor only each doth prize | A |

At last to Charlie's great delight | M |
From France a vessel hove in sight | M |
And safely bore the gallant Prince | A |
To the sunny shores of France | A |

And may once more each hill and glen | N |
Be filled with hardy Highland men | N |
Who love bagpipes and bonnets blue | O |
And give to Britain soldiers true | O |
