Harvest Home Festival Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCBB DDEE FFGG HHII JJKK

In summer time it doth seem goodA
To seek the shade of the green woodA
For it doth banish all our careB
When we gaze on scene so fairB
-
And birds do here in branches singC
So merrily in early springC
And lovingly they here do pairB
Their mutual joys together shareB
-
Here nature's charming never rudeD
Inspiring all with happy moodD
Tables had choice fruits of seasonE
And we too had feast of reasonE
-
To dinner table all did marchF
Through evergreen triumphal archF
On top the Union Jack it floatsG
On each side sheaves of wheat and oatsG
-
Great pumpkins and big ears of cornH
They do this rural arch adornH
We are reminded now 'tis fallI
And boys enjoy game of baseballI
-
With joy at night each one did gazeJ
At the mighty bonfire's blazeJ
The tree leaves shone like silver brightK
The lanterns too were pleasing sightK
