Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD CCBB EEFF

A hawk while soaring on the wingA
O'er a tiny sparkling springA
Beheld a sleek and beauteous minkB
Was enjoying a bath and drinkB
-
And though the hawk was bent on slaughterC
The mink was more at home on waterC
And it is strange this curious quarrelD
All occurred in a sunk barrelD
-
In the Township of NissouriC
There the hawk it came to sorrowC
But it strove often for to sinkB
In vain it strove to drown the minkB
-
But mink it did successful balkE
All the attacks were made by hawkE
The bird was drenched it could not flyF
And ne'er again it soared on highF
