Elf Shot Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFGHHIIJJCC KKLLMMNNCCJJOO

A lad brought up in Highland valeA
Who did believe each fairy taleA
Which his granney oft to him toldB
And of witches and of warlocks boldB
And he himself would often poreC
For hours reading wizard loreC
One night his mother to the townD
In a hurry sent him downD
So o'er his poney he did strideE
And to the town did fearful rideE
He thought that demons they would rushF
On him from every rock and bushG
And as he went through the quarryH
It did great increase his flurryH
He felt that fiends with fiercest hateI
Would surely there seal fast his fateI
But town he reached and neath his vestJ
He parcel pressed beneath his vestJ
The poney now he mounts once moreC
For to pass quarry as beforeC
But alas at that fatal spotK
He heard a gun he was elf shotK
He felt that from his breast a floodL
Was pouring down off his heart's bloodL
But he clung fast to pony's backM
Though loss of blood his frame did rackM
But in spite of his alarmsN
He resolved to die in mother's armsN
And when he reached his own doorC
He said that he was drenched in goreC
From bullet hole all in his breastJ
His father opened up his vestJ
And he did sadly fear the worstO
But found yeast bottle had but burstO
