Electric Light Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

When the great Bulwer's pen did traceA
The history of the coming raceA
His hero to us he hath unfurledB
The glories of his new found worldB
-
This bold traveller be did ventureC
Far below our world's centreC
He entered through an ancient mineD
And to us doth new world defineD
-
Once all was discord and fierce jarsE
Continuous engaged in warsF
Till they discovered great vrill powerC
Then wars did cease from that same hourC
-
Mighty bolts from it were hurledB
Would soon have laid waste the worldB
So for world's preservationG
At once they stopped desolationG
-
All wars by them are now despisedH
Unfit for nation civilizedH
Their peaceful glories they do singI
And fly on artificial wingI
-
Great blazing artificial lightJ
It ever burns both day and nightJ
For they have neither sun nor moonK
But radient always 'tis high noonK
-
When we beheld the glorious sightJ
High in the air did shine so brightJ
It seemed that it could banish nightJ
Great refulgent electric lightJ
-
But after all 'tis children's playL
Compared with the great orb of dayL
Or when the moon it doth shine brightJ
And stars do beautify the nightJ
