Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCBB DDEE FFGG HHII EEEE HHHH HHJK

Wilmot of fish culutre fameA
To this tale he lends his nameA
A pair of eagles built their nestB
On a lofty pine tree's crestB
-
And therein they regular rearC
A brood of young year after yearC
One day he saw one leave its nestB
When for food it was in questB
-
It did wing its flight on highD
And then on water cast its eyeD
When it quickly did discoverE
A great salmon in the riverE
-
Like lightning flash down it doth sweepF
And its talons it buries deepF
In salmon of enormous sizeG
He trys to rise in air with prizeG
-
But all in vain he quickly foundH
He could not carry thirty poundH
And had bit more than he could chewI
For in the air no more he flewI
-
Wilmot he did gaze with wonderE
At the spot where he went underE
Resolved to know what was the matterE
He poled his boat o'er the waterE
-
And he looked down and there he foundH
That the eagle it was drownedH
And its wings in part outspreadH
But alas it was quite deadH
-
With grappling hook he drew him outH
But attached to him was monster troutH
Eagle could not extract his clawsJ
And this the death of both did causeK
