Cheese Curd For Bait Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A AABC DDEE FFAA GHAA IJKK LLMM MMNN

The following adventure was participated in by Mr J Podmore and Mr W D Grant at Matheson's Cold Spring Cheese Factory in ZorraA
-
Cheese buyers in hours of leisureA
Combine business with pleasureA
And when they wish to go abroadB
They take their gun and fishing rodC
-
This tale is true we pledge our wordD
They baited hook with a piece of curdD
And let the rod hang from the boatE
While curd and hook on pond did floatE
-
And then they start for sport and funF
To try their luck with the shot gunF
And quick they raised from their coverA
Then brought low eight brace of ploverA
-
Now to the pond they do returnG
But loss of rod they have to mournH
They see it rushing through the waterA
And wonder what can be the matterA
-
But the courage of young GrantI
It did not for a moment dauntJ
Though rod it now is far beyondK
He plunged into deep cold spring pondK
-
And seized his rod and then drew outL
A beauteous seven pound troutL
Which had grown from the seedM
From spawn of California breedM
-
And Californian in its greedM
On the sweet curd wished to feedM
But alas for it's sad fateN
It swallowed hook along with baitN
