Canadian Thames Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFG HHIG

Westward it winds past each townA
Growing broader as it flows downA
Onward it glides never wearyB
Meandering so soft and cheeryB
-
The sunbeams on the waters glanceC
Skipping about in silvery danceC
From morn till eve the cattle feedD
'Neath lofty elms along the meadD
-
And on its banks in warrior prideE
The brave Tecumseh fought and diedE
Peace and prosperity now reignsF
Along the fertile vale of ThamesG
-
Now soon the waters meet and pairH
With the wavelets of St ClairH
As maids when wed do lose their namesI
No longer is it called the ThamesG
