Canada's Resources Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IJAA KKLL HHMM HHCC NNNN

Small Scotland nobly held its ownA
Against the might of England's throneA
And shall this land with its vast boundsB
Shrink with fear ere the trumpet soundsB
-
While British blood doth course each veinC
Proudly this heritage maintainC
With fertile acres by the billionsD
Future homes for two hundred millionsD
-
Each son could have a fertile farmE
Brave men who ne'er will feel alarmE
And they have both the nerve and skillF
To work land with a right good willF
-
And she has got within her shoresG
Renowned mines of many oresG
While her furnaces and forgesH
Iron in useful shape disgorgesH
-
Her mighty forests they do yieldI
Lumber her cities for to buildJ
But her wealth is not in these aloneA
She has great quarries too of stoneA
-
Industry it here doth bloomK
And skilful webs come from each loomK
One of great nations under sunL
A mightier race it yet will runL
-
For with the Anglo Saxon raceH
No other people can keep paceH
Here they have room for to expandM
Into a nation mighty grandM
-
With great railroads and canalsH
And care in legislative hallsH
A mighty future she will gainC
And highest rank she will obtainC
-
Canada hopes it will be toldN
That she hath patriots brave and boldN
To guide her helm shall be extolledN
As loving country more than goldN
