Canada's Future Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ DJDJ KKKK LMLM FLFL

Canada is a young giantA
Has not yet acquired its strengthB
On the arts of peace reliantA
Throughout its vast breadth and lengthB
-
Though 'tis not famed for orange bowersC
Nor for the products of its vinesD
Though other lands have fairer flowersC
Yet it to nobler gifts inclinesD
-
It doth produce the golden grainE
And few lands can with it competeF
They often try but all in vainE
To produce such splendid wheatF
-
Our geologists divineG
That ere long we will beholdH
Many a rich glittering mineG
Of copper silver and of goldH
-
But we sing more glorious themeI
It is our verdant pasture landJ
Where cows produce a flood of creamI
Doth make cheese of the finest brandJ
-
And great thoughts oftentimes awakesD
When we reflect on this wondrous landJ
With vast rivers and mighty lakesD
All nature here's on scale so grandJ
-
Young Dominion so giganticK
Where rail cars run at speed terrificK
Thousands of miles from the AtlanticK
Till in the West you reach PacificK
-
From balmy breezes of lake ErieL
To the far north frozen oceanM
Where it now seems lone and drearyL
All will yet be life and motionM
-
Though nation's young its powerful fleetF
Doth sail on many a distant seaL
For world's commerce to competeF
Her sails in all climes flowing freeL
