Brain EngravingsA
-
-
Great wonder is the human brainB
How it impressions doth retainB
Inscribed on it are autographsC
And there is also photographsC
-
And every hill and plain and nookD
It is deep graven in this bookD
A great variety here belongsE
Snatches of sermons and of songsE
-
Here you'll find are numerous themesF
Both mighty thoughts and foolish dreamsF
Here love and hope so bright and fairG
There hate and doubt and dark despairG
-
And here is too the bower of blissH
Where youthful lovers first did kissH
Here are memories of childhoodI
And of old ages thoughtful moodJ
-
View well the whole 'tis a strange sightK
Both of suffering and delightK
You see the parting with old friendL
And where new hearts with yours do blendL
-
Greatest blessing hope of heavenM
For our comfort it is givenM
Indented deep in mind of wiseN
Are glories of the heavenly prizeN
