For landlord's heart would not relent | B |
And seized his furniture for rent | B |

Into his cage it did alight | D |
And poured forth notes sweet and bright | D |

But owner of the bird did mourn | E |
And sadly longed for its return | F |
Without it she found no delight | D |
So she did landlord's bill requite | D |

The poor man thinks the bird was sent | D |
By the Lord to pay up his rent | D |
And he now stout maintains from thence | G |
That there is a kind Providence | H |
