| And they cried 'shut down the mill ' | - |

| Of hopes there scarcely seemed a spark | K |

| Was he held fast as if in vice | E |
| Wedged 'mong the timbers and the ice | E |
| Or was there for him ample room | L |
| For to float down the narrow flume | L |

| Had he found there a watery grave | M |
| Or been borne on crest of wave | M |
| Think of the mothers agony wild | N |
| Gazing through dark tunnel for her child | N |

| But soon as Partlo started mill | H |
| Through crowd there ran a joyous thrill | H |
| When he was quickly borne along | O |
| The little hero of our song | O |

| Alas of life there is no trace | E |
| And be is black all over face | E |
| Though he then seemed as if in death | P |
| Yet quickly they restored his breath | P |

| Think now how mother she adored | Q |
| Her sweet dear child to her restored | Q |
| And her boundless gratitude | R |
| Unto the author of all good | S |
