All right Try thisA
Then Every bodyB
I know and care forC
And every bodyB
Else is goingD
To die in a lonelinessE
I can't imagine and a painF
I don't know We hadG
To go on living WeB
Untangled the net we slitH
The body of this fishI
Open from the hinge of the tailJ
To a place beneath the chinK
I wish I could sing ofL
I would just as soon we letM
The living go on livingD
An old poet whom we believe inK
Said the same thing and soN
We paused among the dark cattails and prayedO
For the muskratsP
For the ripples below their tailsQ
For the little movements that we knew the crawdads were makingD
under waterR
For the right hand wrist of my cousin who is a policemanS
We prayed for the game warden's blindnessE
We prayed for the road homeT
We ate the fishI
There must be something very beautiful in my bodyB
I am so happyB
