A Blessing Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHDIGJDKFLMNOP QRIJust off the highway to Rochester Minnesota | A |
Twilight bounds softly forth on the grass | B |
And the eyes of those two Indian ponies | C |
Darken with kindness | D |
They have come gladly out of the willows | E |
To welcome my friend and me | F |
We step over the barbed wire into the pasture | G |
Where they have been grazing all day alone | H |
They ripple tensely they can hardly contain their happiness | D |
That we have come | I |
They bow shyly as wet swans They love each other | G |
There is no loneliness like theirs | J |
At home once more they begin munching the young tufts of spring in the darkness | D |
I would like to hold the slenderer one in my arms | K |
For she has walked over to me | F |
And nuzzled my left hand | L |
She is black and white | M |
Her mane falls wild on her forehead | N |
And the light breeze moves me to caress her long ear | O |
That is delicate as the skin over a girl's wrist | P |
Suddenly I realize | Q |
That if I stepped out of my body I would break | R |
Into blossom | I |
