A Dying Bachelor Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EEEFG HIJEKLEEMI

His eyes deeming like a rainy cloudA
The chime of his voice joisting in chideB
For on his dying mattress he layC
Winking and blinking in hayfever like a dying soul in painD
-
Though in his raceE
Gallant he was and chivalrousE
But now like the Saviour on the cross he whispersE
Asking for one thing he never hadF
As his life drifts away like a desert sandG
-
All his lifeH
He worked to live and dine with loveI
His best he strifed to touchJ
But neverthelessE
The heart of love he embraced notK
For yonder he sleeps with breathless breathL
And all his strivesE
A credit to worms and maggotsE
Who knocks at his casket with tears of joyM
And embrace his motionless skin with loveI
