Psalm I: The Man Is Ever Blessed Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGF HIHI DJKJ LMLM NOMO

The man is ever bless'dA
Who shuns the sinners' waysB
Among their councils never standsC
Nor takes the scorner's placeD
-
But makes the law of GodE
His study and delightF
Amidst the labours of the dayG
And watches of the nightF
-
He like a tree shall thriveH
With waters near the rootI
Fresh as the leaf his name shall liveH
His works are heav'nly fruitI
-
Not so the ungoodly raceD
They no such blessings findJ
Their hopes shall flee like empty chaffK
Before the driving windJ
-
How will they bear to standL
Before that judgement seatM
When all the saints at Christ's right handL
In full assembly meetM
-
He knows and he approvesN
The way the righteous goO
But sinners and their works shall meetM
A dreadful overthrowO
