Safety in public diseases and dangersC
-
He that hath made his refuge GodD
Shall find a most secure abodeE
Shall walk all day beneath his shadeF
And there at night shall rest his headG
-
Then will I say My God thy powerH
Shall be my fortress and my towerH
I that am formed of feeble dustI
Make thine almighty arm my trustI
-
Thrice happy man thy Maker's careJ
Shall keep thee from the fowler's snareJ
Satan the fowler who betraysK
Unguarded souls a thousand waysK
-
Just as a hen protects her broodL
From birds of prey that seek their bloodM
Under her feathers so the LordN
Makes his own arm his people's guardO
-
If burning beams of noon conspireH
To dart a pestilential fireH
God is their life his wings are spreadG
To shield them with a healthful shadeF
-
If vapors with malignant breathP
Rise thick and scatter midnight deathP
Isr'el is safe the poisoned airJ
Grows pure if Isr'el's God be thereJ
-
PAUSEQ
-
What though a thousand at thy sideR
At thy right hand ten thousand diedR
Thy God his chosen people savesS
Amongst the dead amidst the gravesS
-
So when he sent his angel downT
To make his wrath in Egypt knownU
And slew their sons his careful eyeV
Passed all the doors of Jacob byV
-
But if the fire or plague or swordN
Receive commission from the LordN
To strike his saints among the restW
Their very pains and deaths are blestW
-
The sword the pestilence or fireH
Shall but fulfil their best desireH
From sins and sorrows set them freeA
And bring thy children Lord to theeA
