Man frail and God eternalC
-
Our God our help in ages pastD
Our hope for years to comeE
Our shelter from the stormy blastD
And our eternal homeF
-
Under the shadow of thy throneG
Thy saints have dwelt secureH
Sufficient is thine arm aloneG
And our defence is sureH
-
Before the hills in order stoodI
Or earth received her frameJ
From everlasting thou art GodK
To endless years the sameJ
-
Thy word commands our flesh to dustL
'Return ye sons of men '-
All nations rose from earth at firstM
And turn to earth againN
-
A thousand ages in thy sightO
Are like an evening goneP
Short as the watch that ends the nightO
Before the rising sunQ
-
The busy tribes of flesh and bloodR
With all their lives and caresS
Are carried downwards by the floodR
And lost in following yearsT
-
Time like an ever rolling streamU
Bears all its sons awayV
They fly forgotten as a dreamU
Dies at the op'ning dayV
-
Like flowery fields the nations standW
Pleased with the morning lightO
The flowers beneath the mower's handW
Lie with'ring ere 'tis nightO
-
Our God our help in ages pastD
Our hope for years to comeE
Be thou our guard while troubles lastD
And our eternal homeF
