The wisdom and equity of ProvidenceC
-
When the great Judge supreme and justD
Shall once inquire for bloodE
The humble souls that mourn in dustD
Shall find a faithful GodF
-
He from the dreadful gates of deathG
Does his own children raiseH
In Zion's gates with cheerful breathG
They sing their Father's praiseH
-
His foes shall fall with heedless feetI
Into the pit they madeJ
And sinners perish in the netK
That their own hands had spreadL
-
Thus by thy judgments mighty GodF
Are thy deep counsels knownM
When men of mischief are destroyedN
The snare must be their ownM
-
PAUSEO
-
The wicked shall sink down to hellP
Thy wrath devour the landsQ
That dare forget thee or rebelR
Against thy known commandsQ
-
Though saints to sore distress are broughtS
And wait and long complainT
Their cries shall not be still forgotU
Nor shall their hopes be vainT
-
Rise great Redeemer from thy seatI
To judge and save the poorV
Let nations tremble at thy feetI
And man prevail no moreW
-
Thy thunder shall affright the proudX
And put their hearts to painT
Make them confess that thou art GodF
And they but feeble menY
