Psalm 8 Part 2 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC AADD EEAA AAFF AAGH IIAA

v ff paraphrasedA
L MB
Adam and Christ lords of the old and new creationC
-
Lord what was man when made at firstA
Adam the offspring of the dustA
That thou shouldst set him and his raceD
But just below an angel's placeD
-
That thou shouldst raise his nature soE
And make him lord of all belowE
Make every beast and bird submitA
And lay the fishes at his feetA
-
But O what brighter glories waitA
To crown the Second Adam's stateA
What honors shall thy Son adornF
Who condescended to be bornF
-
See him below his angels madeA
See him in dust amongst the deadA
To save a ruined world from sinG
But he shall reign with power divineH
-
The world to come redeemed from allI
The miseries that attend the fallI
New made and glorious shall submitA
At our exalted Savior's feetA
