Psalm 72 Part 1 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCD EEFG HHII DDEE JKLL EEDD

The kingdom of ChristA
-
Great God whose universal swayB
The known and unknown worlds obeyB
Now give the kingdom to thy SonC
Extend his power exalt his throneD
-
Thy sceptre well becomes his handsE
All heav'n submits to his commandsE
His justice shall avenge the poorF
And pride and rage prevail no moreG
-
With power be vindicates the justH
And treads th' oppressor in the dustH
His worship and his fear shall lastI
Till hours and years and time be pastI
-
As rain on meadows newly mownD
So shall he send his influence downD
His grace on fainting souls distilsE
Like heav'nly dew on thirsty hillsE
-
The heathen lands that lie beneathJ
The shades of overspreading deathK
Revive at his first dawning lightL
And deserts blossom at the sightL
-
The saints shall flourish in his daysE
Dressed in the robes of joy and praiseE
Peace like a river from his throneD
Shall flow to nations yet unknownD
