The aged Christian's prayer and songC
-
God of my childhood and my youthD
The guide of all my daysE
I have declared thy heav'nly truthD
And told thy wondrous waysE
-
Wilt thou forsake my hoary hairsF
And leave my fainting heartG
Who shall sustain my sinking yearsH
If God my strength departG
-
Let me thy power and truth proclaimI
To the surviving ageJ
And leave a savor of thy nameI
When I shall quit the stageJ
-
The land of silence and of deathK
Attends my next removeL
O may these poor remains of breathK
Teach the wide world thy loveM
-
PAUSEN
-
Thy righteousness is deep and highO
Unsearchable thy deedsP
Thy glory spreads beyond the skyO
And all my praise exceedsP
-
Oft have I heard thy threat'nings roarQ
And oft endured the griefR
But when thy hand has pressed me soreQ
Thy grace was my reliefR
-
By long experience have I knownS
Thy sovereign power to saveT
At thy command I venture downU
Securely to the graveT
-
When I lie buried deep in dustV
My flesh shall be thy careW
These withering limbs with thee I trustV
To raise them strong and fairW
