Psalm 7 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBD EFEG HIJI KLKL MNMN O PJPJ QRQR STRT QUQU

God's care of his peopleA
-
My trust is in my heav'nly FriendB
My hope in thee my GodC
Rise and my helpless life defendB
From those that seek my bloodD
-
With insolence and fury theyE
My soul in pieces tearF
As hungry lions rend the preyE
When no deliverer's nearG
-
If I had e'er provoked them firstH
Or once abused my foeI
Then let him tread my life to dustJ
And lay mine honor lowI
-
If there be malice found in meK
I know thy piercing eyesL
I should not dare appeal to theeK
Nor ask my God to riseL
-
Arise my God lift up thy handM
Their pride and power controlN
Awake to judgment and commandM
Deliverance for my soulN
-
PAUSEO
-
Let sinners and their wicked rageP
Be humbled to the dustJ
Shall not the God of truth engageP
To vindicate the justJ
-
He knows the heart he tries the reinsQ
He will defend th' uprightR
His sharpest arrows he ordainsQ
Against the sons of spiteR
-
For me their malice digged a pitS
But there themselves are castT
My God makes all their mischief lightR
On their own heads at lastT
-
That cruel persecuting raceQ
Must feel his dreadful swordU
Awake my soul and praise the graceQ
And justice of the LordU
