Praise for temporal blessings or Common and special merciesC
-
We bless the Lord the just the goodD
Who fills our hearts with joy and foodE
Who pours his blessings from the skiesF
And loads our days with rich suppliesF
-
He sends the sun his circuit roundG
To cheer the fruits to warm the groundG
He bids the clouds with plenteous rainH
Refresh the thirsty earth againI
-
'Tis to his care we owe our breathJ
And all our near escapes from deathJ
Safety and health to God belongK
He heals the weak and guards the strongK
-
He makes the saint and sinner proveL
The common blessings of his loveM
But the wide diff'rence that remainsN
Is endless joy or endless painsN
-
The Lord that bruised the serpent's headO
On all the serpent's seed shall treadO
The stubborn sinner's hope confoundG
And smite him with a lasting woundG
-
But his right hand his saints shall raiseP
From the deep earth or deeper seasC
And bring them to his courts aboveM
There shall they taste his special loveM
