The vengeance and compassion of GodC
-
Let God arise in all his mightD
And put the troops of hell to flightD
As smoke that sought to cloud the skiesE
Before the rising tempest fliesE
-
He comes arrayed in burning flamesF
Justice and Vengeance are his namesF
Behold his fainting foes expireG
Like melting wax before the fireH
-
He rides and thunders through the skyI
His name Jehovah sounds on highI
Sing to his name ye sons of graceJ
Ye saints rejoice before his faceJ
-
The widow and the fatherlessK
Fly to his aid in sharp distressL
In him the poor and helpless findM
A Judge that's just a Father kindM
-
He breaks the captive's heavy chainN
And prisoners see the light againO
But rebels that dispute his willP
Shall dwell in chains and darkness stillP
-
PAUSEQ
-
Kingdoms and thrones to God belongR
Crown him ye nations in your songR
His wondrous names and powers rehearseS
His honors shall enrich your verseS
-
He shakes the heav'ns with loud alarmsT
How terrible is God in armsT
In Isr'el are his mercies knownU
Isr'el is his peculiar throneU
-
Proclaim him King pronounce him blestV
He's your defence your joy your restV
When terrors rise and nations faintW
God is the strength of every saintW
