Psalm 63 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDF GHGH IJKJ LMCM NOPO QRQR STST

Longing after God or The love of God better than lifeA
-
Great God indulge my humble claimB
Thou art my hope my joy my restC
The glories that compose thy nameB
Stand all engaged to make me blestC
-
Thou great and good thou just and wiseD
Thou art my Father and my GodE
And I am thine by sacred tiesD
Thy son thy servant bought with bloodF
-
With heart and eyes and lifted handsG
For thee I long to thee I lookH
As travellers in thirsty landsG
Pant for the cooling water brookH
-
With early feet I love t' appearI
Among thy saints and seek thy faceJ
Oft have I seen thy glory thereK
And felt the power of sovereign graceJ
-
Not fruits nor wines that tempt our tasteL
Nor all the joys our senses knowM
Could make me so divinely blestC
Or raise my cheerful passions soM
-
My life itself without thy loveN
No taste of pleasure could affordO
'Twould but a tiresome burden proveP
If I were banish'd from the LordO
-
Amidst the wakeful hours of nightQ
When busy cares afflict my headR
One thought of thee gives new delightQ
And adds refreshment to my bedR
-
I'll lift my hands I'll raise my voiceS
While I have breath to pray or praiseT
This work shall make my heart rejoiceS
And spend the remnant of my daysT
