Midnight thoughts recollectedC
-
'Twas in the watches of the nightD
I thought upon thy powerE
I kept thy lovely face in sightD
Amidst the darkest hourE
-
My flesh lay resting on my bedF
My soul arose on highG
My God my life my hope I saidF
Bring thy salvation nighG
-
My spirit labors up thine hillH
And climbs the heav'nly roadI
But thy right hand upholds me stillH
While I pursue my GodJ
-
Thy mercy stretches o'er my headF
The shadow of thy wingsK
My heart rejoices in thine aidL
My tongue awakes and singsK
-
But the destroyers of my peaceM
Shall fret and rage in vainN
The tempter shall for ever ceaseM
And all my sins be slainN
-
Thy sword shall give my foes to deathO
And send them down to dwellP
In the dark caverns of the earthQ
Or to the deeps of hellP
