vA
C MB
On a day of humiliation for disappointments in warC
-
Lord hast thou cast the nation offD
Must we for ever mournE
Wilt thou indulge immortal wrathF
Shall mercy ne'er returnG
-
The terror of one frown of thineH
Melts all our strength awayI
Like men that totter drunk with wineH
We tremble in dismayI
-
Great Britain shakes beneath thy strokeJ
And dreads thy threat'ning handK
O heal the island thou hast brokeJ
Confirm the wav'ring landK
-
Lift up a banner in the fieldL
For those that fear thy nameM
Save thy beloved with thy shieldL
And put our foes to shameM
-
Go with our armies to the fightN
Like a confed'rate GodO
In vain confed'rate powers uniteN
Against thy lifted rodO
-
Our troops shall gain a wide renownP
By thine assisting handK
'Tis God that treads the mighty downP
And makes the feeble standK
