Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEFD GGHIJH KLMNOP IQRSST UUVWWV XXYUUY

Warning to magistratesA
-
Judges who rule the world by lawsB
Will ye despise the righteous causeC
When th' injured poor before you standsD
Dare ye condemn the righteous poorE
And let rich sinners 'scape secureF
While gold and greatness bribe your handsD
-
Have ye forgot or never knewG
That God will judge the judges tooG
High in the heav'ns his justice reignsH
Yet you invade the rights of GodI
And send your bold decrees abroadJ
To bind the conscience in your chainsH
-
A poisoned arrow is your tongueK
The arrow sharp the poison strongL
And death attends where'er it woundsM
You hear no counsels cries or tearsN
So the deaf adder stops her earsO
Against the power of charming soundsP
-
Break out their teeth eternal GodI
Those teeth of lions dyed in bloodQ
And crush the serpents in the dustR
As empty chaff when whirlwinds riseS
Before the sweeping tempest fliesS
So let their hopes and names be lostT
-
Th' Almighty thunders from the skyU
Their grandeur melts their titles dieU
As hills of snow dissolve and runV
Or snails that perish in their slimeW
Or births that come before their timeW
Vain births that never see the sunV
-
Thus shall the vengeance of the LordX
Safety and joy to saints affordX
And all that hear shall join and sayY
Sure there's a God that rules on highU
A God that hears his children cryU
And will their suff'rings well repayY
