Psalm 51 Part 2 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDD EEFF GGHI JJCB KKIL MMNN OPQQ

Original and actual sin confessedA
-
Lord I am vile conceived in sinB
And born unholy and uncleanC
Sprung from the man whose guilty fallD
Corrupts the race and taints us allD
-
Soon as we draw our infant breathE
The seeds of sin grow up for deathE
Thy law demands a perfect heartF
But we're defiled in every partF
-
Great God create my heart anewG
And form my spirit pure and trueG
O make me wise betimes to spyH
My danger and my remedyI
-
Behold I fall before thy faceJ
My only refuge is thy graceJ
No outward forms can make me cleanC
The leprosy lies deep withinB
-
No bleeding bird nor bleeding beastK
Nor hyssop branch nor sprinkling priestK
Nor running brook nor flood nor seaI
Can wash the dismal stain awayL
-
Jesus my God thy blood aloneM
Hath power sufficient to atoneM
Thy blood can make me white as snowN
No Jewish types could cleanse me soN
-
While guilt disturbs and breaks my peaceO
Nor flesh nor soul hath rest or easeP
Lord let me hear thy pard'ning voiceQ
And make my broken bones rejoiceQ
