Psalm 49 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDE FGFG HIJI KLKL GMGN OPOQ

The rich sinner's death and the saint's resurrectionA
-
Why do the proud insult the poorB
And boast the large estates they haveC
How vain are riches to secureD
Their haughty owners from the graveE
-
They can't redeem one hour from deathF
With all the wealth in which they trustG
Nor give a dying brother breathF
When God commands him down to dustG
-
There the dark earth and dismal shadeH
Shall clasp their naked bodies roundI
That flesh so delicately fedJ
Lies cold and moulders in the groundI
-
Like thoughtless sheep the sinner diesK
Laid in the grave for worms to eatL
The saints shall in the morning riseK
And find th' oppressor at their feetL
-
His honors perish in the dustG
And pomp and beauty birth and bloodM
That glorious day exalts the justG
To full dominion o'er the proudN
-
My Savior shall my life restoreO
And raise me from my dark abodeP
My flesh and soul shall part no moreO
But dwell for ever near my GodQ
