The church is the honor and safety of a nationC
-
Great is the Lord our GodD
And let his praise be greatE
He makes his churches his abodeF
His most delightful seatG
-
These temples of his graceH
How beautiful they standI
The honors of our native placeH
And bulwarks of our landI
-
In Zion God is knownJ
A refuge in distressK
How bright has his salvation shoneJ
Through all her palacesL
-
When kings against her joinedM
And saw the Lord was thereN
In wild confusion of the mindO
They fled with hasty fearP
-
When navies tall and proudQ
Attempt to spoil our peaceR
He sends his tempests roaring loudQ
And sinks them in the seasS
-
Oft have our fathers toldT
Our eyes have often seenU
How well our God secures the foldT
Where his own sheep have beenV
-
In every new distressK
We'll to his house repairN
We'll think upon his wondrous graceH
And seek deliv'rance thereN
