The incarnation and sacrifice of ChristC
-
Thus saith the Lord Your work is vainD
Give your burnt offerings o'erE
In dying goats and bullocks slainD
My soul delights no moreF
-
Then spake the Savior Lo I'm hereG
My God to do thy willH
Whate'er thy sacred books declareI
Thy servant shall fulfilH
-
Thy law is ever in my sightJ
I keep it near my heartK
Mine ears are opened with delightJ
To what thy lips impartK
-
And see the blest Redeemer comesL
Th' eternal Son appearsM
And at th' appointed time assumesN
The body God preparesO
-
Much he revealed his Father's graceP
And much his truth he showedQ
And preached the way of righteousnessR
Where great assemblies stoodS
-
His Father's honor touched his heartK
He pitied sinners' criesT
And to fulfil a Savior's partK
Was made a sacrificeU
-
PAUSEV
-
No blood of beasts on altars shedW
Could wash the conscience cleanX
But the rich sacrifice he paidY
Atones for all our sinZ
-
Then was the great salvation spreadW
And Satan's kingdom shookA2
Thus by the woman's promised seedB2
The serpent's head was brokeC2
