Hearing of prayerC
-
O God of grace and righteousnessD
Hear and attend when I complainE
Thou hast enlarged me in distressF
Bow down a gracious ear againG
-
Ye sons of men in vain ye tryH
To turn my glory into shameI
How long will scoffers love to lieH
And dare reproach my Savior's nameI
-
Know that the Lord divides his saintsJ
From all the tribes of men besideK
He hears the cry of penitentsJ
For the dear sake of Christ that diedK
-
When our obedient bands have doneL
A thousand works of righteousnessJ
We put our trust in God aloneM
And glory in his pardoning graceJ
-
Let the unthinking many sayJ
Who will bestow some earthly goodN
But Lord thy light and love we prayJ
Our souls desire this heav'nly foodO
-
Then shall my cheerful powers rejoiceJ
At grace and favors so divineP
Nor will I change my happy choiceJ
For all their corn and all their wineP
