Sick bed devotionC
-
God of my life look gently downD
Behold the pains I feelE
But I am dumb before thy throneF
Nor dare dispute thy willG
-
Diseases are thy servants LordH
They come at thy commandI
I'll not attempt a murm'ring wordJ
Against thy chast'ning handI
-
Yet I may plead with humble criesK
Remove thy sharp rebukesL
My strength consumes my spirit diesK
Through thy repeated strokesM
-
Crushed as a moth beneath thy handI
We moulder to the dustN
Our feeble powers can ne'er withstandI
And all our beauty's lostO
-
This mortal life decays apaceP
How soon the bubble's brokeQ
Adam and all his num'rous raceP
Are vanity and smokeQ
-
I'm but a sojourner belowR
As all my fathers wereS
May I be well prepared to goR
When I the summons hearT
-
But if my life be spared awhileU
Before my last removeV
Thy praise shall be my business stillG
And I'll declare thy loveW
