Rhyme Scheme: ABC DCEF GHGH IJKJ LGMG

vA
C MB
Watchfulness over the tongueC
-
Thus I resolved before the LordD
Now will I watch my tongueC
Lest I let slip one sinful wordE
Or do my neighbor wrongF
-
And if I'm e'er constrained to stayG
With men of lives profaneH
I'll set a double guard that dayG
Nor let my talk be vainH
-
I'll scarce allow my lips to speakI
The pious thoughts I feelJ
Lest scoffers should th' occasion takeK
To mock my holy zealJ
-
Yet if some proper hour appearL
I'll not be overawedG
But let the scoffing sinners hearM
That I can speak for GodG
