The way and end of the righteous and the wickedC
-
My God the steps of pious menD
Are ordered by thy willE
Though they should fall they rise againD
Thy hand supports them stillE
-
The Lord delights to see their waysF
Their virtue he approvesG
He'll ne'er deprive them of his graceH
Nor leave the men he lovesI
-
The heav'nly heritage is theirsJ
Their portion and their homeK
He feeds them now and makes them heirsJ
Of blessings long to comeL
-
Wait on the Lord ye sons of menD
Nor fear when tyrants frownM
Ye shall confess their pride was vainN
When justice casts them downM
-
PAUSEO
-
The haughty sinner have I seenP
Nor fearing man nor GodQ
Like a tall bay tree fair and greenP
Spreading his arms abroadR
-
And lo he vanished from the groundS
Destroyed by hands unseenP
Nor root nor branch nor leaf was foundS
Where all that pride had beenT
-
But mark the man of righteousnessU
His several steps attendV
True pleasure runs through all his waysF
And peaceful is his endV
