vA
C MB
The cure of envy fretfulness and unbeliefA
-
Why should I vex my soul and fretC
To see the wicked riseD
Or envy sinners waxing greatE
By violence and liesD
-
As flowery grass cut down at noonF
Before the ev'ning fadesG
So shall their glories vanish soonF
In everlasting shadesG
-
Then let me make the Lord my trustH
And practise all that's goodI
So shall I dwell among the justH
And he'll provide me foodJ
-
I to my God my ways commitK
And cheerful wait his willL
Thy hand which guides my doubtful feetM
Shall my desires fulfilL
-
Mine innocence shalt thou displayL
And make thy judgments knownN
Fair as the light of dawning dayL
And glorious as the noonF
-
The meek at last the earth possessO
And are the heirs of heav'nF
True riches with abundant peaceP
To humble souls are giv'nF
-
PAUSEQ
-
Rest in the Lord and keep his wayL
Nor let your anger riseD
Though Providence should long delayL
To punish haughty viceR
-
Let sinners join to break your peaceP
And plot and rage and foamS
The Lord derides them for he seesT
Their day of vengeance comeU
-
They have drawn out the threat'ning swordV
Have bent the murd'rous bowW
To slay the men that fear the LordV
And bring the righteous lowL
-
My God shall break their bows and burnF
Their persecuting dartsX
Shall their own swords against them turnF
And pain surprise their heartsX
