Love to enemiesD
-
Behold the love the gen'rous loveE
That holy David showsF
Hark how his sounding bowels moveG
To his afflicted foesF
-
When they are sick his soul complainsH
And seems to feel the smartI
The spirit of the gospel reignsH
And melts his pious heartI
-
How did his flowing tears condoleJ
As for a brother deadK
And fasting mortified his soulJ
While for their life he prayedL
-
They groaned and cursed him on their bedK
Yet still he pleads and mournsM
And double blessings on his headK
The righteous God returnsN
-
O glorious type of heav'nly graceO
Thus Christ the Lord appearsP
While sinners curse the Savior praysQ
And pities them with tearsR
-
He the true David Isr'el's KingS
Blest and beloved of GodT
To save us rebels dead in sinU
Paid his own dearest bloodV
