Religious education or Instructions of pietyA
-
Children in years and knowledge youngC
Your parents' hope your parents' joyD
Attend the counsels of my tongueC
Let pious thoughts your minds employD
-
If you desire a length of daysE
And peace to crown your mortal stateF
Restrain your feet from impious waysE
Your lips from slander and deceitG
-
The eyes of God regard his saintsH
His ears are open to their criesI
He sets his frowning face againstJ
The sons of violence and liesI
-
To humble souls and broken heartsK
God with his grace is ever nighL
Pardon and hope his love impartsK
When men in deep contrition lieL
-
He tells their tears he counts their groansM
His Son redeems their souls from deathN
His Spirit heals their broken bonesM
They in his praise employ their breathN
