Psalm 21 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK LELE

Our king is the care of HeavenA
-
The king O Lord with songs of praiseB
Shall in thy strength rejoiceC
And blest with thy salvation raiseB
To heav'n his cheerful voiceC
-
Thy sure defence through nations roundD
Has spread his glorious nameE
And his successful actions crownedD
With majesty and fameE
-
Then let the king on God aloneF
For timely aid relyG
His mercy shall support the throneF
And all our wants supplyG
-
But righteous Lord his stubborn foesH
Shall feel thy dreadful handI
Thy vengeful arm shall find out thoseH
That hate his mild commandI
-
When thou against them dost engageJ
Thy just but dreadful doomK
Shall like a fiery oven's rageJ
Their hopes and them consumeK
-
Thus Lord thy wondrous power declareL
And thus exalt thy fameE
Whilst we glad songs of praise prepareL
For thine almighty nameE
