The books of nature and scriptureA
For a Lord's day morningB
-
Behold the lofty skyC
Declares its Maker GodD
And all his starry works on highC
Proclaim his power abroadE
-
The darkness and the lightF
Still keep their course the sameG
While night to day and day to nightF
Divinely teach his nameG
-
In every diff'rent landH
Their general voice is knownI
They show the wonders of his handH
And orders of his throneI
-
Ye British lands rejoiceJ
Here he reveals his wordK
We are not left to nature's voiceJ
To bid us know the LordL
-
His statutes and commandsM
Are set before our eyesN
He puts his gospel in our handsM
Where our salvation liesN
-
His laws are just and pureO
His truth without deceitP
His promises for ever sureO
And his rewards are greatQ
-
Not honey to the tasteR
Affords so much delightF
Nor gold that has the furnace passedS
So much allures the sightF
-
While of thy works I singB
Thy glory to proclaimG
Accept the praise my God my KingB
In my Redeemer's nameG
