Deliverance from despairC
-
Thee will I love O Lord my strengthD
My rock my tower my high defenceE
Thy mighty arm shall be my trustF
For I have found salvation thenceE
-
Death and the terrors of the graveG
Stood round me with their dismal shadeH
While floods of high temptations roseI
And made my sinking soul afraidH
-
I saw the op'ning gates of hellJ
With endless pains and sorrows thereC
Which none but they that feel can tellJ
While I was hurried to despairC
-
In my distress I called my GodK
When I could scarce believe him mineL
He bowed his ear to my complaintM
Then did his grace appear divineL
-
With speed he flew to my reliefN
As on a cherub's wing he rodeO
Awful and bright as lightning shoneP
The face of my deliverer GodK
-
Temptations fled at his rebukeQ
The blast of his almighty breathR
He sent salvation from on highS
And drew me from the deeps of deathR
-
Great were my fears my foes were greatT
Much was their strength and more their rageU
But Christ my Lord is conqueror stillV
In all the wars that devils wageU
-
My song for ever shall recordW
That terrible that joyful hourX
And give the glory to the LordW
Due to his mercy and his powerX
